New Glasgow Appointment…

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Paul McCreadie as Senior Consultant within our Glasgow office. Paul has 17 years experience in the construction industry, most recently as Chief Engineer with a major UK contractor and has been heavily involved in a wide range of retail, commercial, leisure, education, healthcare and residential projects, Paul has worked previously as Contracts Director in the structural steelwork, precast and cladding industry involved in a variety of high profile and prestigious projects. A civil engineer by profession, Paul has a masters degree in construction law and brings to Acutus a wealth of practical, technical and managerial experience.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Anne Connolly to the Acutus team. Anne increases the strength and depth of our commercial expertise. She has operated in senior Quantity Surveying roles in the Contracting sector over the past five years.  Having spent ten years with a major M&E contractor she has extensive experience and a detailed knowledge of all commercial functions concerning the day-to-day running of individual contracts and the contracting organisation as a whole.

We are pleased to announce that Shari Fraser has joined Acutus’ Glasgow office from September 2006 as Technical Clerk. Shari has proven communication and people skills, an ability to work accurately to deadlines, and is a very capable project administrator with proven ability to multi-task and deliver results.

Technology and Construction Court – Expert Testimony

Acutus Client, ERDC, wins lengthy legal battle to recover Principal Sum and costs from Brunel University. Robert Burt (Acutus Director) testified as Quantum Expert in the TCC in this case which addressed complex matters of valuation on multiple bases. Managing Director for ERDC (Ron Mitchell) characterised the legal battle as David -v- Goliath in which the giant academic institution emerged with a black eye.

London Office Growth

New London Appointment – Lucy Phillips

We are pleased to announce that Lucy Phillips will be joining Acutus’ London office from June 2006 as a Technical Assistant to Dr David Aldridge.

Lucy has good people skills, an ability to find and organise data quickly and carefully, and is a very capable administrator. David has worked with Lucy in the past in Precept, where Lucy managed the office and a number of administration staff and also supported Precept’s consultants in a number of areas.

This is an exciting time for Acutus as we expand in both our London and Glasgow offices.

New Associate Director Appointed

We are pleased to announce that the Acutus team for 2006 has been strengthened by the addition of a new Associate Director, Iain McAlister.

Bringing over 25 years experience in contracting he has a wide range of technical, contractual and managerial knowledge. Hands-on experience operating many forms of contract, including both the D&B and operational phases of PFI/PPP, has given him an in-depth understanding of the practicalities of delivering complex projects in the present-day marketplace. His skills in strategic development and business planning have been honed through participation in bid management and organisational change.

He adds further breadth and depth to the expert services being provided by Acutus and is a key appointment in our business development.

Iain previously fulfilled Chief Engineer and Divisional Director roles with Barr Limited.
